Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is an inherited neurological disease characterized by a slowly progressive degeneration of the muscles in the foot, lower leg, hand and forearm, and a mild loss of sensation in the limbs, fingers and toes. Charcot, Marie and Tooth were three French researchers who discovered this disease.

Home Medical Equipment for Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease Patients

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease often creates the need for ambulation aids like canes and walkers. In a limited number of cases, persons with CMT may also require the use of scooters, manual wheelchairs or power wheelchairs. Other equipment considerations might include daily living aids to assist with tasks like eating, dressing and toileting.
